Week 7 – Unclenching

Unclenching

I wish you would
open your hand
and your eyes
unfurl your fist
allow the light
to dispel this
illusion
you have confusedly kept
useless as an out-of-date cheque

I think you should
let the sand
of our time
turn to mist
forget who I
might have kissed
intrusion
in a VIP lounge out back
where retro is the old black

I know you could
stand
untied
with the meanest
touch of pride
an altered list
revolution
rusty gears given grease
a turnaround, a release
