Week 14 – Sandbags

Sandbags

A poem describing a certain aspect of depression

Bags of sand
are heavy
and soft.

You need
a good grip
to lift them.

My bloated limbs have imprinted the quilt

A sandbag
is a great
absorber.

It functions
as insulation,
a deadening buffer.

My beanbag brain wallows in lethargy

Sandbags
are super
flood barriers.

All moisture
leaks away
between the grains.

My gritted eyes grip the vacant ceiling

But my body is drowning
